KEPEMIMPINAN PEMBINA PONDOK DALAM MEMBENTUK MOTIVASI SANTRI
Abstract
This study examines the leadership of Kiyai in fostering students’ motivation to memorize the Qur’an at Pondok Pesantren Tahfizhul Qur’an (PPTQ) Nurul Vadya Kolaka. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving kiyai and students. The findings reveal that kiyai leadership is perceived as a moral and holistic educational responsibility that emphasizes role modeling, humanistic firmness, and contextual guidance. Students’ motivation is strengthened through value internalization, personal mentoring, and kiyai exemplary daily behavior. However, challenges such as diverse student backgrounds, fluctuating motivation, and limited dialogical communication remain. The study concludes that adaptive and empathetic leadership plays a crucial role in enhancing students’ intrinsic motivation in the Qur’anic memorization process.
